Here is a list of some of the most popular strategies and tactics used by Terran. You can use this to develop counter measures or to make your own strategies as a Terran player.

Unit Drops.
This is a harassment strategy and involves loading up one or two drop ships with some units and dropping them behind your enemies' wall in their supply line. I they aren't paying attention you can usually get all of their workers and start on their buildings. Its not a bad idea either to drop a siege tank or two in behind the lines either because they can be put in siege mode and cause a fair amount of havoc. Once your done with the workers start on the pylons/depots to supply block them.

If you don't plan for this in the early game it can be hard to block because drop ships are quite low in your tech tree and can navigate most base defenses without being detected.
Thor Shield.
This is a macro strategy when your pushing an attack against an enemy usually a Zerg player. Always position your Thors at the front of your army so they soak any damage done by banelings. This stops your army from getting taken out straight away. This requires good micro and macro skills but is highly effective in stopping a baneling assault.
Siege Tanks.
Positioning your siege tanks in your base is vitally important. They should be in a position where they are hard to get to but cause the most amount of damage. They should always be on the high ground and in a place where the enemy has to pass by to get to your front door.

You can also do a Siege push which involves slowly pushing your siege tanks forward in siege mode while defending them closely with marines and marauders. This is so effective because they can take out most base defenses without getting close to them. Remember to watch out for air assaults though because if they are revealed on a cliff they will quickly lose health.
In Base Scouting.
Generally when you are playing Zerg, even Protoss sometimes, it's important to scout your base on a regular basis. You do this so you see any rush or hassle on your mining line coming. Things to look for are pylons around your cliffs or if Zerg check their base for Nydus worms. Nydus worms open the door for quick in base ling rushes but are easily prevented.

These are resource intensive rush strategies and if you prevent them then enemy is usually left wide open for a counter attack which will in most cases win you the game.
Detectors.
If you are playing against Zerg it's important to have some detectors around the ramp for your base, if you don't you can fall victim to a Roach rush where they burrow and move into the back of your base and lay havoc. This is almost always a fatal strategy if it works but it usually requires the Zerg user to have no bases defenses and few buildings which you can quickly take out.
