This can be a difficult period of the year. There is of course still Christmas to look forward to, and the autumnal weather can be fresh and invigorating rather than just cold and rainy, not to mention the glorious colours that appear on tree branches around this time too. But the fact that we have only recently come out of the long summer months can only mean that next summer is still almost a year away. Here are a few reasons for choosing Australia as your next holiday destination:

Sydney: boasting the title of Australia's largest and most densely populated city, Sydney is a lot more than just a metropolis full to bursting with people. A city this populous is bound to have some incredible cultural hotspots, the most famous of which is the city's legendary opera house, but there are also less well-known attractions on offer. Whether it's museums or zoos, sports grounds or botanical gardens, this is an immensely diverse place to visit.

Melbourne: Australia's capital city originally made its wealth back in the nineteenth century with the discovery of gold in the area, and soon became the nation's political hub. If you want to see the place from which the entirety of Australia is governed, not to mention spend some time on quality beaches, this is a great destination for your trip.

Uluru: with a landmass that the whole of Europe could fit into about twice, Australia is bound to have plenty of wonderful sites outside of the coastal cities, and this is perhaps the most well known of these. Also referred to as Ayers Rock, Uluru is an immense sandstone formation close to the centre of the country; an iconic image, it would be a shame to visit Australia and not witness it firsthand.
